Sara Skipper

Sara Skipper is a professional art therapist.  She received her post graduate masters level diploma in Art Therapy from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute in British Columbia, Canada. 

Art therapists are trained professionals with expertise in counselling psychology and specialize in using visual arts within their therapeutic practice.  Sara holds professional membership with the Canadian Art Therapy Association.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Brock University and a diploma in Recreation Services from Sir Sandford Fleming College.

Sara offers art therapy for individuals, closed groups and community-based art making for children, youth, adults and older adults.  She also offers art therapy groups for specialized populations such as the military community, women’s health and well-being, grief/bereavement and exploring ecological identity.

Sara's therapeutic approach is trauma informed, rooted in feminism and she uses a variety of modalities and theoretical frameworks within her work, such as mindfulness-based practices, attachment theory, neuroscience, narrative therapy, ecopsychology and psychoanalytical theory. 

Sara is a military spouse and a mother to three children.

She is firmly connected to nature, dedicated to curiosity and playfulness and believes in the healing powers found in storytelling, creativity and community.
